Oliver W. Tews was a longtime resident of Hutchinson and a member of Vineyard Methodist Church.  Mr. Tews was employed by Northwest Airlines as a Flight Engineer. In Oliver's last will and testament dated December 22, 1983, he provided a lasting trust for the graduates of Hutchinson High School who are  members in goodstanding at  Vineyard Methodist Church.

The funds left by Mr. Tews are an endowed fund where the interest of that fund provides annual scholarships for Vineyard members. These scholarships will always be available because the principle for the endowment can never be spent.
